Is it Spring yet? Are we there yet? Did anybody catch what the groundhog said? I am so ready for Spring, warmer weather, a bit of sunshine (though I don't mind the rain) and being able to boot my boys outdoors! We are all suffering from cabin fever and just about to drive each crazy.

While I figure out how not to pull my hair out, here are a few new recipes I found on the internet that I am very excited to try out. Enjoy!

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies!

Chocolate chip, peanut butter, lemon, pecan, oatmeal, sugar, frosted...ahhh cookies. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad cookie. Now, there might be varying degrees of good, better and best cookies...but no bad cookies!

I can't help it. I confess - I love cookies! What's not to love? They are the perfect size snack, taste lovely with tea and coffee and most cookies are so easy to make. Plus, baking cookies can be a great family activity too!

Southern Comfort Foods

We are in the home stretch of our tour across the US, visiting each state to find out what foods they are most famous for. We've been from the Northwest and Southwest states all the way to the Gulf coast. As we travel up the Eastern sea board state by lovely state, we'll take a brief stop in each one to enjoy the food!

Wouldn't you know it? Kentucky is famous for its fried chicken, so I dug up the best and most simple recipe I could find just in case you want to enjoy some soon!
Real Simple Fried Chicken

Tennessee was a a little bit of a surprise with it's love of tomatoes but I thought you might enjoy something a little different featuring this funny fruit.

In North Carolina they enjoy something called "dry barbecue." I'm not entirely sure if that's a type of preparation or cooking process, or if it refers to the ingredients. Either way, I figured our short ribs would get you in the mood for barbecue!

In South Carolina, their favorite famous food is something called Benne Wafers (a crispy Sesame Seed Cookie). These breakfast cookies were the closest recipe I had on hand and I think they'll do the trick.

Last but not least, let's venture into Virginia and enjoy some ham, because those Virginians certainly do. I added our Honey & Brown Sugar Ham recipe to "ham up" your weekend menu.

Midwest Favorites Part 1

Ready for Midwest food favorites? This week we head over to the Midwest states and check out what sort of dishes, food and feasting they are famous for! To start our tour let's visit Nebraska and all those corn fields. It's no wonder they call themselves the Cornhusker state, since they grow and husk A LOT of corn. Try our Corn Relish Recipe to celebrate Nebraska in style.

Corn Relish
The Midwest wouldn't be on the map without Kansas, also known for its bodacious barbecue and of course home to Dorothy and that Wizard dude. Our Barbecue Beef Casserole is a delicious way to explore Kansas, even if you can't get over there anytime soon!

Oklahoma is one of those states I couldn't come up with an actual recipe picture for because not many people indulge in Okra delights. But...that's what Oklahoma is famous for and I am not one to down play all that "O" food. Try our no bake Oatmeal cookies to satisfy your "O" craving.

No Bake Oatmeal Cookies
I've been to Texas myself and I can tell you that many things are bigger in Texas, simply by virtue of size alone. The state is huge! I hope you have a huge appetite because in honor of Texas being the "Steak State" I featured our Boston Market Meatloaf as a possible recipe to help celebrate Texas's hugeness.

I hope you are enjoying our state by state tour of famous food and recipes. I am having fun putting these posts together. Don't forget to connect with us on Facebook to share your favorite State food, or visit Alicia's Recipes for more yummy and free recipe ideas.

Irish-Inspired Recipes!

Whether you have Irish ancestry in your family tree, or not a lick of leprechaun love at all in you...you cannot deny that the Irish have a very distinct style of cooking!  In an attempt to honor their unique menu, here is a few recipes that come close to resembling an Irish meal adventure.  Visit Alicia's Recipes for more ideas!

Cabbage Soup
Nothing says Irish like cabbage soup, besides corned beef but we'll get to that.  Having an Irish grandmother means you get really familiar with all things cabbage quick.  (My grandmother knows every cabbage recipe known to man or woman or little green men.)  Try our cabbage soup recipe to see what the big deal is...it's yummy!

Corned Beef and Cabbage
Although I refused to eat it when I was younger, (the name was a stumbling block for my taste-buds) I have lately embraced the unique flavor of corned beef.  There are a few different methods and cooking styles out there, but our recipe keeps it simple to get you started.

Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
And don't forget to bake up a few dozen oatmeal cookies to go with your evening of Irish dining!  These spicy oatmeal raisin cookies will delight your mouth and your company!  Enjoy!  We love feedback and photos, so if you try one of our recipes be sure to send us a picture and we'll feature it!

Happy Friday!

We are not superstitious here at Alicia's, so in honor of Friday the 13th, I decided to have a little fun with our recipe recommendations today!  I put together a few recipes that our bound to brighten the dreariest of days, and be enjoyable over the weekend!

Chocolate Bar Cookies
I was going to go with a caramel theme for today, but thought I better take a break from the candy and caramel to give our New Year's resolutions a chance to work!  We all get a little overloaded on sugary treats at the holidays, but you really can't ever have enough cookies...That's totally different!

Deidre's Extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookies
Admittedly, I have not attempted to bake Deidre's Extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookies, but what a name!  The name alone makes me want to try them just to see if Deidre speaks the truth.  Give me a shout out if you try the recipe and the cookies end up blowing your mind!  And be careful!

Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze
I added the Lemon Cookie recipe mainly to give you a break from the chocolate chip cookie overload.  But as I said before, can you really ever get enough cookies?  I could live on cookies if I had to.  This recipe looks especially tempting due to the glaze.  I am a huge fan of glaze.

Enjoy the cookie recipes!  Remember, we love feedback and photos!
