Is it Spring yet? Are we there yet? Did anybody catch what the groundhog said? I am so ready for Spring, warmer weather, a bit of sunshine (though I don't mind the rain) and being able to boot my boys outdoors! We are all suffering from cabin fever and just about to drive each crazy.

While I figure out how not to pull my hair out, here are a few new recipes I found on the internet that I am very excited to try out. Enjoy!

Things I'd Like To Eat For Breakfast

...but probably shouldn't. I admit it. One of my new year's resolutions was to trim down a bit. Nothing too drastic but it couldn't hurt to walk off a little bit of the 2012 weight gain right? Isn't it funny how as soon as you decide to lose a little weight or eat more healthy or get more regular activity, things like dessert and rich foods haunt your waking thoughts?

Maybe it's just me. Anyway...although I haven't done too bad so far, these kind of images keep floating past my eyes. Yikes! In the spirit of "we're all in this together" I thought I would pass on a few really good looking dishes.

Breakfast Ideas for Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is one week away and I'm guessing you know exactly what you'll be having for dinner! Potroast! Kidding...Turkey, right? And I'll bet you've got most of the menu ironed out, whether you are staying home or contributing to dinner at a friend or relative's house.

But what are you having for breakfast? Thanksgiving Day was always a busy day at our house growing up. My mom is all about the traditional Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner with all the fixings. Still, she always managed something clever, AND EASY, for breakfast.

I've found some simple breakfast ideas for you to try this Thanksgiving for breakfast. Because so many of us usually eat a pretty big afternoon or evening meal that day, it's probably best to keep breakfast a little on the lighter side.

January is National Oatmeal Month: Recipes and Facts

January is National Oatmeal Month. Did you know that Americans buy more oatmeal during the month of January than any other month during the year? It's no wonder, oatmeal is a hot breakfast, perfect for cold, wintery days, and it's good for you. Many create New Year's resolutions to eat better and improve their health, so it's just natural for so much oatmeal to be consumed during the blustery days of January.

Below are a bunch of recipes from our site that use oatmeal as an ingredient. You can see our complete search for "oats" here, or visit our Oatmeal Cookie section here. Be sure to check out our oatmeal tips below as well!

Oatmeal Tips
by Amanda Formaro

Oatmeal is a very versatile grain. You can cook it and eat it as is, use it in baked goods, and even make it into soap! There are several different types of oatmeal, knowing the difference can save you from a bowl of cardboard for breakfast.

Types of Oatmeal
There are several types of oatmeal, the most common being old fashioned oats, quick cooking oats, steel cut oats, and instant oatmeal. All oatmeal is made from oat groats. Oat groats are minimally processed whole oats that take a long time to cook in their whole state.

Old Fashioned Oats
Probably the most common type of oats, widely available on grocer shelves, old fashioned oats are used in baking as well as cooked and eaten for breakfast. This type of oat has been steam heated and then flattened, forming an oat flake. A bowl of old fashioned oatmeal usually takes about 5 minutes in boiling water or 2-3 minutes in the microwave.

Quick Cooking Oats
These are basically old fashioned oats that have been flattened further still and cut into smaller pieces to allow them to cook faster. This process allows for a much faster cooking time.
